Your hosts, Ian and Paula, settled in the delightful little hamlet of Picton by design and not by default.
After much perusal of alternatives in this beautiful country of New Zealand for a place to settle long-term and ply their trade in the B&B industry, it was the comfortable size of this town, its mild and agreeable climate, friendly townsfolk, and abundance of choices of recreational activities that finally sealed that choice.
No less alluring was the fact that they have been avid sailors for most of their lives and Picton is right on the Queen Charlotte Sound, one of the world‘s unsung gems for cruising and boating of all kinds.
Never crowded, and with a myriad choices of bays and coves to visit and anchor in, there is no need for residents or visitors to look further afield for virtually any form of water-born activity.
Furthermore, Ian and Paula are able to send their guests on delightful day adventures walking on the Queen Charlotte Track, riding the mail boat, swimming with the dolphins, or doing a wine tour of the world renowned Marlborough wine region.
Ian builds boats and brews beer as hobbies and Paula busies herself, whenever the guesthouse endeavours allow, with gardening and making soy candles, a selection of which she has for sale to guests looking for small gifts to tuck into their luggage for the folks back home.
They love the B&B industry and meeting the delightful guests they get from all around the world. You are welcome to join them for a yarn, whether it is to plan your next day‘s adventures or to join them in the workshop or kitchen to chat about the pastimes they so enjoy.
Paula and Ian, and Spanish Water Dog, Azar (non-allergenic breed) look forward to meeting you and having you stay with them at their Picton Bed and Breakfast The Gables.
“Happy travels,”
Ian and Paula
